The everyday place for doctors to connect with news, colleagues and ideas

At the recent Eye for Pharma (now Pharma Australia) conference, we spoke about the importance of enabling doctors through digital platforms to improve their ability to connect and communicate with peers, specialists and the pharmaceutical industry.

With one eye on the ever-evolving communication needs of doctors, ADG has been investing heavily in data and digital capabilities for the past decade, and more recently we have accelerated our digital and product investment by more than $2M this year alone.

This week, AusDoc has become much more than a website that keeps doctors informed with all the latest news, opinion, clinical updates and education.

We’re evolving to become a place where doctors can now connect and collaborate with colleagues.

This is because we believe doctors are at the centre of a strong & sustainable healthcare system and society, that they are the gatekeepers of the system and guardians of the health of the people within it.

We also believe that medicine will become even more collaborative in the future than it is today and that a connected community – where doctors can stay up-to-date, discuss the latest topics, safely communicate with each other and share experiences – will benefit all.

We hope AusDoc will grow to become the country’s largest and most vibrant medical network, offering doctors an everyday way to tap into the profession, literally at the touch of a button.

Connect with news

Doctors already have a way to tailor their newsfeed to the topics that interest them the most through the recently launched My Feed page. Now, doctors can follow their favourite journalists and contributing authors and have access to all globally published research via a new PubMed integration, again personalised to their interest areas.

Connect with colleagues

Not only can doctors follow others in the AusDoc community, but they can connect with them too and build their very own network of trusted colleagues. Once connected, they can communicate safely using our end-to-end encrypted messaging system.

Connect with ideas

And – as collaboration is key to good medicine – we’ll be adding new features soon that will allow doctors to start a discussion and share a patient case, and invite others in their network to give their opinion.

Connect anywhere

Finally, to make sure all our audience members can enjoy the new-look AusDoc wherever they are, we’re working hard to develop a mobile app. Watch out for more on this in the next few months.

How doctors can use some of our new features:

  • The top section of the new site is dedicated to search. Doctors can choose from Articles, People, How to Treat or search all content to quickly find the information and people they are interested in.

  • Select People in the search function and click Follow against those you want to receive notifications about via the bell icon when they publish new articles, posts or comments.

  • Doctors (all AHPRA verified MED’s) can select People in the search function and check Connect to send them an invitation. Once they accept, they’re added to their network and can then send and receive messages directly via the new Inbox feature.

  • Click on the envelope icon to view messages from people in your Network and from AusDoc – this is where we’ll send you notes about new articles such as How to Treat, CPD or breaking stories, through to new features like our soon to be launched AusDoc App.
